The first is Sarah Susanka, an architect by training who, in the mid-1990s and during her various trips to the USA, reflected on the relationship between home space and quality of life. She found that, between 1978 and 2007, American homes grew from 165 to 230 m2 because future homeowners were not offered any alternatives.

The second "star" is Jay Shafer, who pioneered the Tiny house movement in the United States. He built the first models, then set up his own company in 2001. The subprime crisis of 2006-2007 gave a huge boost to the development of tiny houses, with homeowners no longer willing to take out loans and wanting to be free to go wherever they wanted. The tiny wooden house movement was launched!
Although Tiny homes have been around for a very long time, the post-subprime financial crisis of 2008 gave them a new lease of life.
