Tiny House: all you need to know in 5 questions image

When you want to become the owner of a Tiny House, you're bound to ask yourself a lot of questions before you take the plunge.

That's why we're here to help you find out!

Here are 5 answers to frequently asked questions about Tiny Houses.

1. How much does a Tiny House cost?

The price of your trailer-mounted Tiny House will depend very much on your needs and expectations. It can vary from €15,000 to €60,000, depending on your choice. Here are the different options available to you, depending on your budget:

  • Self-build: you design your Tiny House from A to Z and control your budget. The price may vary according to your expectations and the materials you choose. You can build your Tiny House for as little as €15,000. However, you need to bear in mind that this is a real wooden cottage. It has to be safe, and guarantee your safety and comfort, thanks in particular to the ecological, high-quality materials you choose. What's more, it's best to have a basic understanding of DIY before embarking on this type of project.
  • Turnkey: opting for a professional builder who specializes in the construction of wooden houses will save you time. It's also a guarantee that your Tiny House will be perfectly finished, thanks to your builder's expertise in wood. In the turnkey version, the Tiny House is delivered ready to live in, with a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom. Choosing the turnkey version means peace of mind if you're not a do-it-yourselfer. Prices range from €36,800 to €60,000, depending on the model and options chosen.
  • Do-it-yourself Tiny: this is the perfect alternative for those who want to add their own touch to their Tiny without necessarily having to take care of the framing, insulation and waterproofing.

You can expect to pay an average of over €40,000 for a do-it-yourself version. To find out more about this option, contact us!

2. What are the size limits?

It all depends on how mobile you want to be!

If you want to tow your Tiny House on European roads with a simple BE license, your Tiny House must respect certain dimensions: maximum 2m55 wide and less than 4m50 high. Weight must not exceed 3.5 tonnes.

Beyond these dimensions, the Tiny House will be considered as an exceptional convoy.

3. What insurance do I need for a Tiny House on a trailer?

To be fully insured, you need two types of insurance.

When parked, the Tiny House is considered a mobile home. You need to take out home insurance.

On the road, your Tiny House trailer must be insured independently of the vehicle.

It must also have its own license plate.

4. Do I have to be connected on site?

You don't have to connect your trailer house if you opt for water and energy self-sufficiency solutions.

The photovoltaic kit, gas options and water recovery and filtration systems will enable you to live independently wherever you are.

What's more, these solutions will help you make considerable savings!

5. How long does a Tiny House last?

The aim of this new housing solution is to be as durable as possible!

Made from quality wood, it is resistant to external attack.

What's more, it's easy to renovate. Properly maintained and used, the lifespan of this trailer house is indefinable.

What's certain is that your children, grandchildren and even future generations will be able to enjoy it.
