What type of tiny house should you choose for your project? An important question!
Whether you're looking to change your lifestyle, expand your home to accommodate family and friends, or invest in a rental property, we're sure you've heard of tiny houses.
What's special about them is that they're tiny houses with all the comforts of a real home. The challenge is to optimize the available space to suit your habits and needs. Like a garden studio, the tiny house is designed to be mobile. It's trailer-mounted and can be towed by a suitable vehicle. It can be transported in the same way as a caravan. But beware, tiny house and caravan can only be compared in terms of mobility. In fact, a tiny house is closer to a real timber-frame house.
How to choose your tiny house?
As mentioned above, it's important to choose a tiny house that meets your needs. Its daily organization, its preferences. In short, for everyday life! You have two choices. A tiny house with a mezzanine or a single-level tiny house. And we're here to help you make the right decision!
Tiny house with mezzanine: advantages, use, price of a tiny house
A tiny house with mezzanine floors has one obvious advantage: it increases the available floor space. Thanks to mezzanines, you can even double the available surface area of your tiny house. For a trailer with a 6m platform, this means a surface area of around 26m², including mezzanines. Enough to accommodate a family of 4!
The mezzanine is perfectly suited to the sleeping area. In fact, it often has a relatively low ceiling, the height limit for a tiny being 4m outside to take the road. This gives a height under the ridge of around 1m10. Just the right height for a bed. But also for storage, a reading corner, or a real desk! The only drawback is that you need to be able to use the ladder or stairs to climb up.
Depending on the size of the mezzanine, it's easy to install 4 fixed beds upstairs. For example, in our Colibri family model, the 6m² mezzanine accommodates a 160cm double bed or two single beds. The 3m² mezzanine can accommodate a double bed (140) or a single bed.
The first floor is used for daytime living. The kitchen, living room and shower room all find their place here. The surface area is perfectly optimized. And when guests arrive, you can opt for the sofa bed.
A tiny house with mezzanines therefore has the advantage of being able to accommodate a family or offer extra space for storage or leisure without encroaching on the living area.
Single level Tiny house: use, advantages, price
First and foremost, a tiny house without a mezzanine is still a tiny house. A truly miniature, mobile wooden house. It offers all the comforts of a traditional house, while allowing you to consume less and consume better. Non-invasive on the ground, it requires no foundations. With a footprint of less than 20m2, it requires a simple application to the town hall. With high-performance insulation, you reduce your energy consumption. With dry toilets, you can significantly reduce your water consumption.
The single-level tiny house is the answer to the problem of everyday accessibility. Yes, we're not all able, or willing, to climb a ladder every day! Especially if you're not comfortable with heights...
To meet this new demand, Quadrapol has created the Tiny House Capucine. A single-level tiny house with a real double bedroom on the first floor. No more climbing!
To compensate for the absence of a mezzanine and extra headroom, we've opted for a slightly longer trailer. At Quadrapol, we chose a 7m20 platform. The advantage? We created a true double bedroom on the first floor, without encroaching on the living area. Circulation in the Tiny Capucine is fluid, easy and accessible to a wide public. Especially for seniors and young children, for whom safety is a priority! Storage space is provided under the roof and in the living area, and the living room has enough room for a convertible sofa with a 140cm mattress. A single-level tiny house can accommodate 2 to 4 people.
A single-levely tiny house: ageing well, or ageing together
La Capucine meets the needs of parents who want to take care of their parents themselves. We live in a society where the average age is increasing every year. The cost of renting a home, even in the countryside, is high. And the cost of retirement homes continues to rise. Taking care of loved ones, being close to them on a daily basis or during vacations, while respecting their privacy, is a new priority. Offering unrivalled living comfort, based on simple values such as caring, sharing and respect. These are the reasons why La Capucine is such an attractive alternative to a rental, retirement home or residence for senior citizens. The interior allows easy movement between rooms. With its single-level double bedroom, fully-equipped kitchen and shower room, the Capucine tiny house is welcoming for all generations. Whether for a weekend, several weeks or year-round occupancy.
So, which tiny house should I choose for my project?
Do you want your tiny house to be a family home with lots of guests? Do you think climbing ladders and stairs is part of the Tiny charm? Opt for a tiny house with mezzanine floors. It's perfect for youngsters, but also for lovers of optimization and the wooden hut spirit.
The house is designed for 1 to 2 people. Accessibility and safety are paramount? A single-level tiny house is more suitable. The Capucine is highly appreciated for family projects where you want to welcome your retired parents in your garden, while offering them genuine independence.
